Troubleshoot YouTube on Xbox 360

Use the following information to resolve YouTube problems.

Troubleshoot YouTube app error messages

Can’t connect to the YouTube Service. Error code: 0C01/8009/0304

Sorry, YouTube isn't available right now. Please try again later. For more information, go to www.xbox.com/status.

If you see one of these error messages when you try to start the YouTube app or play YouTube content, try the following:

  • Check the status of the YouTube service.
  • If the YouTube service is up and running, wait for approximately one minute and then try again to start the app or play the content.
  • If you continue to receive one of these error messages, delete and then reinstall the YouTube app. For information about how to do this, see the “YouTube app doesn’t respond” section later in this article.

If none of these suggestions solves the problem, contact Xbox Support.

Account pairing was not successful. Please try again later.

If you see this error message, it means that your YouTube account was not linked successfully with your Xbox gamertag. Please check your credentials and try the activation process again.

If you continue to see this error message when you try to log in, close the app, start the app again, and then try to sign in. For more help with this error, go to the YouTube console support page.

Sorry, but the item you requested to view ({0}) is no longer available.

Sorry, this video cannot be played.

Sorry, but we cannot display the item you requested to view

If you see one of these error messages, wait for approximately one minute. Then, try to play the content again. If you continue to receive the error, please return to the previous menu and select different piece of content to watch.

To notify YouTube of the content error, please contact YouTube. For information about how to do this, see YouTube’s Contacting Us page.

The current network cannot support quality video playback. The current video has been paused and you may choose to continue at a later time.

If you see this error message, it means that you’re experiencing a performance issue. Follow the troubleshooting steps at Issues with connection speed or disconnects.

Xbox Live child accounts are not allowed to use this application

Xbox Live child account users are not allowed to sign in to or start the YouTube app on your console.

This app provides access to unrated video content

This warning is shown when an Xbox Live teen account user signs in to the YouTube app. They are allowed to use the YouTube app, but, based on their content permission level, may not be able to change the YouTube safety mode setting from Strict to Moderate or Off. To enable this, the Family Settings permissions need to be changed by an adult account on the console. For more information on safety mode settings, see Use safety mode to filter YouTube videos.

Video cannot be played in your country/region

The video copyright holder or YouTube doesn't allow the selected video to be played in the country or region where you live or where your gamertag was created.

For full access, you need a YouTube account. You need to sign in.

To use a YouTube account with the app, you need to have a YouTube account linked to the gamertag that is associated with your Xbox Live account.

YouTube videos don’t play smoothly

If YouTube videos are not playing smoothly on your console, try the following:

YouTube app doesn’t respond

If the YouTube app is not responding, delete and reinstall it. Here’s how:

  1. From the Xbox Dashboard, go to the Settings, and select System.
  2. Select Storage.
  3. Select your primary storage device (most likely Hard Drive).
  4. Select Games and Apps.
  5. Find and select any items that refer to YouTube.
  6. Select Delete.
  7. Return to the Xbox Dashboard.
  8. Go to Apps, and then select Browse Apps.
  9. Browse or search for YouTube.
  10. Select YouTube to download the app.
