Xbox 360 status code errors when playing videos or movies

Solutions

When you play videos downloaded from Xbox LIVE, streamed from a computer, or on a disc, you may see a status code like 69-C00D36C4 or 80-C00DF242.

Most video playback errors occur for one of two reasons:

  • The format is not supported by the Xbox 360 console. For a list of support formats, please see Supported regions, formats, and discs.
  • The content is protected by Digital Rights Management. For example, sometimes content is only licensed for playback on a specific computer or device. If the content you’re trying to play was downloaded from Xbox LIVE, please see Can’t play downloaded Xbox LIVE content.

Xbox video playback status codes

Status code errors that appear when playing videos are in the following format:

AA – XX – BBBBBBBB

AA is a two-digit prefix and BBBBBBBB is the status code. Locate the status code you’re getting in the table below to find out what the status code means and what you can do.
