This may mean that there's a problem with the Xbox Live service or that your Xbox Live account is blocked.

Solutions

To resolve the problem, try the following solutions. If a solution doesn’t work, try the next solution.

Solution 1: Check the Xbox Live service status

Go to the Xbox Live status page to see whether the service is up and running. If there are any service alerts, please wait a while and try again.

Solution 2: Check to see if your account has been blocked

  1. Go to the Microsoft sign-in page.
  2. Enter the email and password that you use for your Xbox Live account.
  3. If you see an email telling you that your Xbox Live account is blocked, follow the steps in the email to unblock it.

Note You might have to access the original email account that you used to set up your Xbox Live account. You might also have to reset the password for your Microsoft account. If you can’t access your Microsoft account, go to the Recover your Microsoft account page and follow the steps to recover your account.

Next, re-download your gamer profile:

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
  2. Select Download Profile.
  3. Note If you don’t see the Download Profile option, it probably means you’re signed in to your profile. Press X to sign out.

  4. Enter the Microsoft account associated with your profile. If you don’t know your Microsoft account or password, see Find your Microsoft account or password.
  5. Enter your Microsoft account password.
  6. Note If your account is an Xbox Live child account, you have to use the parent’s Microsoft account to download the profile.

  7. Select the storage device for your profile (for example, Hard Drive). Your profile will begin downloading.

After your profile downloads, restart the console and then try to connect to Xbox Live.

Solution 5: Power cycle your console and network hardware

To perform a power cycle reset, follow these steps:

  1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem or gateway. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.
  2. Turn off your Xbox One console by pressing and holding the power button on the front of the console for five seconds.
  3. Wait five minutes.
  4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.
  5. Plug in the rest of your hardware and check to see if you still experience the same connection problem as before.
