If the light on your Kinect sensor will not turn on, it might be because it’s not connected properly. You might also receive one of the following errors:

This game requires a Kinect sensor (C000009D)
The Kinect sensor isn't connected (C000009D)
Kinect is turned off (8000000F)
The Kinect sensor was unplugged (C000020C)
Here’s what to do to fix the Kinect connection problem:

Update Required: An update has been found. To apply this update, you must restart your console.
Xbox 360 E console
|
Xbox 360 S console
|
|
Turn off the console.
Important Remove the Power/USB adapter cable if your Kinect sensor came with one.

The light located near the middle of the cable should be green.
No green light? Try plugging the cable into another outlet to make sure the cable is working properly. If you still don't see a green light, your cable needs to be replaced. You can order a replacement cable from the Xbox Online Service Center (sign in with your Microsoft account). Console registration may be required.
If these solutions don't resolve the problem, the sensor might need to be repaired. To start the online repair process, go to the Online Service Center and click Start Request to request a repair.
