When an Xbox LIVE Vision camera and a Kinect sensor are both connected to an Xbox 360 console, only one can be active at a time. The following table explains which device is used in different situations.

If you turn off the Kinect sensor, you can use the Vision camera with Video Kinect. However, you will need to use a headset to chat over Xbox LIVE, and automatic zooming and panning are not supported. Learn how to turn the Kinect sensor on or off.
The Kinect sensor cannot be used to add pictures to messages that you send using Xbox LIVE. If you want to take and add pictures to a message, you need to use the Vision camera. Learn more about messaging.
