“Not enough storage space” error occurs when installing a Kinect update on your Xbox 360

You see the following error message when installing a system update for your Kinect sensor on your Xbox 360 console:

Not enough storage space

This means that there’s not enough free space on your storage device to install the Kinect sensor system update.

Solution

The Xbox 360 Kinect sensor system update requires 190 megabytes (MB) of storage space.

Here’s how to check the available storage space and delete items if you need more free space:

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
  2. Select Settings, and then select System.
  3. Select Storage or Memory.

  1. The amount of free space on each storage device is displayed on the Storage Devices screen. Verify that your primary storage device (for example, Hard Drive) has 190 MB or more of free space. If the primary storage device has less than 190 MB of free space, you must delete some items.
