Getting your Xbox 360 console or Kinect sensor serviced is easy. Follow the procedure in this article to get your Xbox product serviced and get back in the game.
To request service for an Xbox 360 product, you must first register the product, as described below.
Note You will need a free Microsoft account, which enables you to sign in to various Microsoft services such as Xbox Live in order to register your Xbox 360 console and Kinect sensor. If you don’t have a Microsoft account, create a Microsoft account.
The registered product now appears in Device Manager. (To see it, click Manage devices. under Home at the top of the page.)
Your registered devices are shown under Device Manager at the Xbox Online Service Center along with the warranty expiry date for each.
The service cost varies based on the warranty of your product and how you submit the order.
|Self-service or assisted||Self-service via order placed online||Assisted support via phone|
|Warranty status||Original Xbox 360 Console||Xbox 360 S or E console||Kinect sensor||Xbox 360 S or E console||Kinect sensor|
|Out of warranty||$159||$79||$79||$99||$99|
Note Prices are before tax. American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa credit cards are accepted.
The warranty for the Xbox 360 console and the Kinect sensor is 1 year from the product purchase date. (A three-year warranty applies only to the original Xbox 360 console with a three flashing red lights or E74 error issue.) If you think the warranty expiration date shown at the Xbox Online Service Center is incorrect, or you have questions about the warranty, see the Warranty and registration FAQ.
After the submission is received, you’ll be given a service order number. An order confirmation email will be sent to you.
If you haven't received a confirmation email after 24 hours, check your email program's junk folder or spam filter. If you still don't find the email, contact Xbox Support.
For information about how to track the shipment or check the progress of your order, see Help with your existing Xbox 360 service order.
