How to change Xbox 360 gamer profile settings

By default, you do not have to enter credentials or codes to use your Xbox LIVE profile on your console. Optionally, however, you can create a four-button-sequence “pass code” to help prevent unauthorized use of your profile. For example, you may want to prevent a younger sibling from signing in and playing games by using your gamertag or purchasing premium content by using your profile. Note As an alternative, you can also require Microsoft account password entry to sign in to Xbox LIVE on your console.

You can modify the following personal information:

• Contact email address
• Telephone number
• City
• State
• ZIP Code/Postal Code

Note You can only change the secret question, secret answer, and member name by signing in to your Microsoft account.

To modify your personal information, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Settings hub and select Account.
2. Select Contact Information, and then press the A button.
3. Enter your Microsoft account credentials (the user name and password that you use to access your Microsoft account), and then press the A button.

When you are signed in to your Xbox LIVE-enabled profile, you can change your "presence" or “online status" information. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Press the Xbox Guide button to display the Xbox Guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Preferences.
4. Select Online Status.
5. To set how you appear to other players when you are online, select one of the following options:
   • Online
   • Away
   • Busy
   • Appear Offline

To change your gamer picture, follow these steps:

1. Select Gamer Picture on the Edit Gamer Profile menu.
2. Select one of the following options:
   • Change Gamer Picture: This option presents preset gamer pictures that are stored on the console.
   • Change Personal Picture: This option lets you set a personal picture that only people on your Friends List can see.
   • Download Gamer Pictures: This option opens the Xbox LIVE Games Store, where you can download more pictures.
   • Take Personal Picture: If you have an Xbox LIVE Vision Camera connected to your Xbox 360 Console, you can use this option to take a personal picture and use it in your gamer profile. For more information, see Set up and use the Xbox LIVE Vision camera.

   Note Personal pictures are available only to people on your Friends List.

3. Select the gamer picture that you want, and then press the A button.

To change your gamer motto, follow these steps:

1. Select Gamer Motto on the Edit Gamer Profile menu to see the current gamer motto.
2. Use the keyboard on the screen or the optional USB keyboard to change the motto.
3. Press the A button.

To change your gamer zone, follow these steps:

1. Select Gamer Zone on the Edit Gamer Profile menu.
2. Select the Xbox LIVE gamer zone that you want from the following list:
   • Recreation
   • Pro
   • Family
   • Underground

If your gamertag was created for you during Xbox LIVE sign-up, you can change the gamertag once for free. Additional Xbox LIVE gamertag changes cost 800 Microsoft Points. For steps and details, see Change your Xbox LIVE gamertag or Xbox Music tag.

1. To change the name, select Name on the Edit Profile menu.

Note The name will be visible to anyone.

2. Use the keyboard on the screen or the optional USB keyboard to change the name.
3. Press the A button.

Note The location will be visible to anyone.

2. Use the keyboard on the screen or the optional USB keyboard to change the location.
3. Press the A button.
