Supported files and media

The Xbox 360 console can read JPEG, BMP, and PNG files from the following sources:

  • A portable device connected to your console by USB (for example, a USB flash drive)
  • A computer on your home network
  • A CD or DVD
  • A digital camera connected to your console by a USB cable

Note Not all devices, networks, and CD/DVD media are supported. If one source doesn’t work, try another. For example, if your Xbox 360 console cannot display images that are on a USB flash drive, try a different USB flash drive or try copying the photos to a CD or a DVD.

You can stream pictures over your home network to your Xbox 360 console by using Windows Media Player, the Zune Music + Video software, or Microsoft Windows Media Center Extender. For more information about how to stream pictures over your home network, see using Windows Media Center with Xbox 360.
