Error code C00D1249 occurs when the Zune software tries to update your Zune player

Note As of November 15, 2015, the Zune service has been discontinued. This may cause errors when attempting to stream or download content or update the service. For more information, see the Zune retirement FAQ.

You see error code C00D1249 when the Zune software tries to update your Zune player:

C00D1249

This means that the player was not updated successfully. The player enters self-recovery mode, and it displays the following message:

2: On your PC, open the Zune software and restore the device firmware.

Solution

  1. Disconnect your Zune player from the computer, and then reconnect it.
  2. In the Zune software, click Settings at the top of the screen.
  3. Click Device in the upper-left corner of the screen.
  4. Click Update. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
