You can’t accept the Zune Terms of Service

Overview

When you try to use the Zune software, you can’t accept the Zune Terms of Service (TOS).

Cause

Typically, this problem happens when the Terms of Service change or when you’ve made a change to your Zune account.

Things to try

First, try the following to solve the problem:

  • Sign out of all Microsoft account (formerly called Windows Live ID) programs and services before you try to accept the TOS again.
  • Make sure that you sign in to your Microsoft account correctly. If you forgot your Microsoft account password, go to the Reset your password page. If this is a child account, make sure that it has parental consent.

For more information about Zune parental controls, see Xbox 360 console and Zune Music + Video software parental controls

If you still can’t accept the TOS, try the following solutions:

Accept the TOS at Xbox.com

Sign in to your Zune account at Xbox.com or on your Windows Phone, and see if you can accept the terms of service there. Here’s how:

Xbox.com:

  1. Visit Xbox.com.
  2. After you sign in, accept the TOS again when you are prompted. If you’re successful, try opening the Zune software and returning to what you were doing.

Windows Phone:

Try making a purchase on your Windows Phone Marketplace and accepting the TOS there. Here’s how:

  • On Start, tap Marketplace, and when you find an item to buy, accept the TOS. If you’re successful, try opening the Zune software and returning to what you were doing.

Clear your Internet Explorer history

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
  2. On the General tab under Browsing history, click Delete.
  3. Click to select the check boxes next to Temporary Internet Files and Cookies. Make sure all the other check boxes are clear.
  4. Click Delete, and then click Close.
  5. Close all Internet Explorer windows.

Try to sign in, and then accept the TOS.

Make sure that the Date and Time settings on your computer are correct

  1. Find the date and time in your taskbar, usually located in the far-right corner.
  2. If the date and time are incorrect, click the date/time area, and then click Change date and time settings. The Date and Time dialog box will look something like this, depending on the operating system version.

Note A User Account Control dialog box may appear after you click Change date and time. If this occurs, click Continue. To change the date and time, you may have to be an administrator on the computer.

  1. Correct the date and time settings, and then click OK to save your changes.

Delete your browsing history

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
  2. On the General tab under Browsing history, click Delete.
  3. Click the check box next to History, and then click Delete.
  4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  5. Close all Internet Explorer sessions.

Try to sign in to Zune again, and accept the TOS.

If you receive the "Application not found" error message when you try to accept the TOS, try using another computer, and sign in and accept the TOS there.

After you successfully accept the TOS agreement on this second computer, you should be able to successfully sign in on your original computer, where you received the "Application not found" error.
