Manage your Xbox Music collection on Windows Phone 8

Overview

You can use the Music app in Windows 8, the Xbox Music website, or the Xbox Music app in Windows Phone 8 to add items to or remove items from your collection. The changes will be reflected across all of your devices.

Add music to your collection on Windows Phone 8

  1. Tap the Music tile, or tap Music in your app list.
  2. Swipe left or right to the Get music pane.
  3. Tap Top music or Browse by genre.
  4. If you selected Browse by genre, select the genre tyou want.
  5. Swipe left or right to either top songs or top albums.
  6. Tap and hold the song or album. Tap Add to… and then tap Collection. You can also tap New Playlist to create a new playlist or add the music to any existing playlist.

    Note Albums can also be added by tapping the album to open it, tapping More (the ellipses icon in the lower-right corner), and then tapping Add to…

Download or Buy music on Windows Phone 8

  1. Tap the Music tile, or tap Music in your app list.
  2. Swipe left or right to the Get music pane and find an album or song you want to add.
  3. If you have an Xbox Music Pass subscription, tap the Download icon (an arrow pointing down) to add new music to your phone. Otherwise, tap the Buy icon (a shopping cart) to purchase the item.

Remove music from Windows Phone 8

Note You can set the All music filter to Streaming or On my phone to help find what you want to remove.

In the Songs pane, tap and hold the song, and then tap Delete.

To delete more than one song:

  1. Tap Select (the icon with three lines).
  2. Select the songs to delete. You can also tap More (the ellipses icon) and then tap Select all to select all the songs and then unselect the songs you want to keep.
  3. Tap Delete (the trash can icon).
  4. When you see the prompt “This will delete from your phone and cloud connection. Are you sure you want to delete?” tap Ok.
