Minimizing Xbox Music data consumption on your Windows Phone 8

Ways to avoid using your data allowance too quickly

Cellular data helps keep you connected to rest of the world when you're not using a Wi-Fi connection, but you can burn through your data allowance quickly playing music if you aren't careful.

One way to avoid unexpected data consumption is to set Xbox Music to use Wi-Fi only.

To adjust the Xbox Music app settings:

  1. Tap the Xbox Music tile or tap Xbox Music in your app list.
  2. Swipe left or right to the Collection pane and tap an artist, album, or song.
  3. Tap More (the ellipses icon in the lower-right corner) and then tap Settings.
  4. Set Use cellular data to Off.

Note To prevent music streaming, set Show streaming music in my collection to Off. You will still be able to browse the Xbox Music Store and download tracks.
