Charge the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit battery pack

You can charge the battery pack that came with your Xbox One Play & Charge Kit by using the charge cable included in the kit. Here’s how:

  1. Open the battery compartment door of your Xbox One Wireless Controller. (1)

  1. Insert the rechargeable battery pack into the battery compartment on the controller with the connection side first, so that the Xbox logo is in the same orientation as the label inside the battery compartment. (2 & 3) The battery is designed to only be inserted in this direction.
  2. Replace the battery compartment door. (4)

  1. Connect the other end of the charge cable to a controller port on your Xbox One.
  2. Turn on your Xbox One console.

You can now either leave your console on or turn it off. In both instances, the light on your charge cable glows amber to indicate the battery is charging. When the light changes to white, the battery pack is fully charged.

Notes

  • Once you attach the controller to the console, you MUST turn on the console for the battery to charge. You can then turn it off and the battery will continue to charge.
  • You can also charge your battery by connecting the controller and charge cable to any USB power source; however, charging times may vary compared to charging via the Xbox One console.
  • Other USB-certified cables can be used to charge your controller’s batteries. Again, charging times may vary compared to the charge cable provided.

Troubleshooting

If the LED on the charge cable is not lit:

  • Check to ensure your cable is properly inserted into the controller and console.
  • Check to ensure your battery is properly inserted. The battery pack is designed to only be inserted in one orientation.

If your battery is still not charging and the cable and battery are properly installed, your battery may be at fault. See Troubleshoot the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit.
