Xbox One SmartGlass can’t connect to your console after playing a game

Problem

The Xbox One SmartGlass app becomes disconnected while you’re playing a game, and then you’re unable to reconnect to the console.

Solution

To resolve this issue:

  1. Go to the Home screen.
  2. Press the Menu button on the controller.

    Note: You can say “Xbox, go to settings” from any screen, but you’ll need a controller once you’re on the Settings screen.

  2. Select Power & startup.

  1. On the Power & startup screen, press the Power mode setting.

  1. The Power mode will change to “Energy-saving.”

  1. Power cycle your console by following these steps:
    1. Go to the Home screen.
    2. Press the Menu button on the controller.

    1. Select Settings.

      Note: You can say “Xbox, go to settings” from any screen, but you’ll need a controller once you’re on the Settings screen.

    2. Go to Power & startup.
    3. Select Turn Xbox off, and then confirm that you want to turn off your Xbox One console.
    4. Wait until your Xbox One console is turned off. You’ll know that your console is turned off when the Xbox button stops flashing.
    5. Turn your console on and try to start the application again.
