Backward compatibility of games and apps between Xbox consoles

Overview

Xbox One backward compatibility is here. Now you can play a growing number of digital and disc-based Xbox 360 games on your Xbox One console.

Xbox One uses an emulator to run Xbox 360 games. This means that you’ll be able to use most of the features from both systems while playing games, such as screenshots, broadcasting, and Game DVR.

To play Xbox 360 games on your Xbox One console, you’ll have to first make sure your game is supported for Xbox One gameplay. Xbox 360 games that are supported for backward compatibility are listed in the Xbox 360 catalog. For the latest information, visit Play Xbox 360 games on Xbox One.

Your Xbox 360 profile will work on Xbox One, and all achievements, avatar items, and other personalization will carry forward.
