Prevent unauthorized purchases by children on Xbox One
Xbox One enables you to share the benefits of a single Xbox Live Gold membership with anyone who uses your Xbox One console, without allowing others to use the credit card linked to that membership to make purchases.
If you create a Microsoft account for each console user, each user can have his or her own Xbox Live profile to use to sign in to your console, while having access to all the services of your Xbox Live Gold membership.
Tips for preventing unauthorized purchases or changes to your account:
Changing your settings. This is also handy to prevent children from changing parental controls on their accounts if you forget to sign out.
Don’t put credit card information in the account of any family member whom you don’t want making purchases (such as children). You can always buy an Xbox gift card if you want to allow children to make their own purchases.
Remember, on Xbox One you're not automatically signed out. To prevent unauthorized use of the credit card linked to your Xbox Live Gold membership, always sign out after using the console.
How to create a separate Microsoft account for each console user
To create a Microsoft account, all you need is an email address that you monitor regularly. If you need an email address, we’ll walk you through creating a new @outlook.com address you can use. Follow these steps to create your Microsoft account:
Scroll left from Home to open the guide.
Scroll up to the account area and select Add new.
If the family member you’re creating an account for already has a Microsoft account but has never created an Xbox Live account, enter the email address and password the person uses to sign in to that Microsoft account.
If the family member you’re creating a new Microsoft account for has an email address that the person monitors regularly and would like to use, enter that email address and choose a password when prompted.
If the family member you’re creating a new account for doesn’t have a Microsoft account yet, click Get a new email and we’ll walk you through setting up an @outlook.com email address for that person to use when signing in to your Xbox One and other Microsoft services.
Follow the instructions for setting up the new account.
