Live TV or OneGuide is slow to respond on Xbox One

Overview

Under some circumstances, TV and OneGuide may be unresponsive or slow to respond. Examples include a lag in changing channels, static images on television channels, or no response to voice commands.

Solutions

To resolve the issue, try these solutions in the following order.

Solution 1: Power cycle your Xbox One and set-top box

  1. Power cycle the Xbox One console by holding down the Xbox button on the front of the console for ten seconds. The console may power off two or three seconds into the process – hold the button down for the full ten seconds.
  2. Power down and unplug all cables from the set-top box.
  3. Wait 30 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the set-top box.
  5. Press the Xbox button on the front of the Xbox One console.
    Note If you don’t see the green boot-up animation when the console restarts, repeat these steps. Make sure that you hold the power button until the console completely shuts down.
  6. Power on the set-top box.

Solution 2: Recalibrate your Kinect sensor

If OneGuide does not respond to voice commands, recalibrating your Kinect may resolve the issue.

  1. Say "Xbox, go to Settings" or select the Settings tile from My games & apps.
  2. Select Kinect.
  3. Select Kinect doesn’t hear me.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to recalibrate Kinect’s audio sensor for your room and speakers.

Note Even when correctly calibrated, Kinect may not hear you properly if your television is very loud or many people are talking in the room.

Solution 3: Troubleshoot IR issues with your devices
