Add or change your Xbox Live or Zune Music Pass payment options

Overview

You can have one or more payment options associated with your Xbox Live account. Payment options can include credit cards and PayPal accounts, which can be used to purchase items from Xbox Live Marketplace.

To change a payment option for your Xbox Live membership, see Change payment for an Xbox Live membership.

You can easily edit your payment options at Xbox.com. Here’s how:

Add or change a payment option (Xbox and Zune)

  1. Go to My Account.
  2. Under Payment & Billing, click Manage Payment Options.

  1. If prompted, sign in using your Microsoft account (formerly Windows Live ID).
  2. Do one of the following:
    • To edit a payment option, click Edit.
    • To add a payment option, do one of the following:
      • Click Add a new Credit Card and enter the credit card information.
      • For Xbox Live and Xbox Music, you may also be able to click PAY with PayPal and follow the instructions to add an existing PayPal account or create a new one. (PayPal is not available in all regions.)

Zune Music Pass payment options

You can have one or more payment options associated with your Zune Music Pass subscription account. Payment options include credit cards, which can be used to purchase items from the Music Marketplace.

If you use a credit card for your Zune Marketplace purchases, you can:

  • Transfer a balance from one credit card to another. If you add multiple credit cards to your account, you can transfer the balance from one credit card to another.
  • Change payment for your Music Pass subscription. If you have a Music Pass, you can change the credit card that you use to pay for your subscription. When you change this payment method, any other services on your account (such as an Xbox Live Gold Membership) and any balances you have are also transferred to the new credit card.

Transfer a balance from one credit card to another

  1. Go to the Microsoft account page and sign in.
  2. On the Billing Account Overview page, under Your payment methods, click the credit card that has an existing balance.
  3. On the Payment Method Activity page, click Go to payment method information.
  4. On the Payment Method Information page, under Payment method information for this account, click Use a different payment method.
  5. On the Transfer All Services page, under Use a different payment method, select the credit card that you want to transfer the balance to and then click Next.
  6. On the Confirm Transfer page, confirm the balances and services that you want to transfer and then click Complete transfer.

    Note The old credit card will be removed from our system after this transfer and you can no longer use the removed credit card. Any information about it that still appears is for historical reference only.

Change payment for your Music Pass subscription
  1. Go to the Microsoft account page and sign in.
  2. On the Billing Account Overview page, under Your payment methods, click the credit card that you use to pay for your Music Pass subscription.
  3. On the Payment Method Activity page, click Go to payment method information.
  4. On the Payment Method Information page, under Payment method information for this account, click Use a different payment method.
  5. On the Transfer All Services page, click Add new credit card and then click Next.
  6. On the Confirm Transfer page, confirm the balances and services that you want to transfer and then click Next.
  7. On the Add Payment Method page, enter the information for the new credit card and then click Save.

    Note The old credit card will be removed from our system after this transfer, and you can no longer use the removed credit card. Any information about it that still appears is for historical reference only.
