Delete Games with Xbox 360

Overview

If you've saved or downloaded a game to your Xbox 360 Hard Drive or Xbox 360 Memory Unit, you can delete the game when you need more storage space.

If you want to delete a specific game from your hard drive, you can do that quickly from the Game Library.

To delete a saved game that you've installed to the hard drive:

  1. Go to My Xbox and open Game Library.
  2. Select the game.
  3. Select Delete from Hard Drive, then select Delete.

You can also see a complete list of content (including games, add-ons, videos, and more) that you've savedto your hard drive or memory unit. This list is helpful if you want to free up space by deleting content that you aren't using anymore.

To delete installed content:

  1. Go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
  2. Select Memory.
  3. From the Storage Devices screen, select the device that contains the content you want to delete.
  4. Select the content you want to delete.
  5. Select the content again on the following screen, and then select Delete.

Downloads and Deletion Suggestions

When you select an item for download from Game Marketplace, Video Marketplace, or Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web, your console checks to see if you have sufficient space for the item before the download begins. If you're low on space, you're provided a list of videos, game trailers, demos, and Xbox LIVE Arcade content on your console, sorted by size, to help you decide what to delete.

To see what's on your storage device, go to My Xbox, open System Settings, and select Memory.

Note

If you purchase content from Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the web, and delete the content from your storage device, you can download it again without paying a second time. This is useful if you want to delete something temporarily. For more information, see Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web.
