First, make sure that you're connected to Xbox LIVE. Download any updates that you're prompted to install. Support for certain devices, such as the Zune portable music and video player are installed by these updates.
Also, make sure that your device is connected to the USB port on the front of your Xbox 360. Make sure that all videos and music that you're trying to play work correctly when you play them from the device itself.
If you still cannot play any music or videos, then, try the following steps:
| 1. | Verify the audio or video file is not Digital Rights Management (DRM) protected. The device may not be able to stream protected content to your Xbox 360 console. |
| 2. | Make sure that the files are in a compatible format. | 3. | If the files are compatible with your Xbox 360 console, but the files still will not play, try to use a different USB port on your Xbox 360 console. |

MORE INFORMATION
| • | You can connect a portable music player to your Xbox 360 console to listen to music as you play Xbox 360 games. However, your Xbox 360 console does not support all music formats or all portable music players. You cannot play copyright-protected music from certain services, such as Apple iTunes. To play unprotected advanced audio coding (AAC) music from an Apple iPod, use your Xbox LIVE Silver or Gold Membership to download a free update from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Every console that requires this update must connect to Xbox LIVE. |
| • | When you are using a friend's Xbox 360 console, Xbox LIVE Marketplace will allow you to download the AAC codec again. But if you've already downloaded the codec to your own Xbox 360 console, the codec will not work on your friend's console. This is because the codec is only valid the first time that it is downloaded by a specific gamer profile. You may receive the following error message if you try to download the codec more than one time by using a specific profile: Can’t download – Optional Ipod Support Status Code 8007005 |
| • | The iPod cannot stream video to your Xbox 360 console because of a proprietary video format. However, you can play some music files from an iPod. |
To listen to unprotected AAC files from an iPod music player, follow these steps:
| 1. | Move to the Game Marketplace. |
| 2. | Select All Games. Then click Browse. |
| 3. | On the title pane of the All Games screen, select All. |
| 4. | Select Optional Media Update. |
| 5. | Select Confirm the Download. |
| 6. | After your download is complete, select Continue to return to the Xbox Dashboard.
You can now listen to unprotected AAC audio files by themselves or in playlists together with MP3 and WMA audio files from the following devices:| • | An iPod | | • | A portable audio player | | • | The Xbox 360 Hard Drive | | • | A USB flash-memory device |
