When you try to use downloadable game content, the content become corrupted and cannot be used

SYMPTOMS

Sometimes, you may not be able to access or use downloadable game content because the content has become corrupted.

CAUSE

Note This information is relevant only to content that has become corrupted. It is not relevant to content licenses or DRM issues. If you are receiving a message that states that you must be connected to Xbox LIVE to use the content, or if a game demo runs in trial mode only, click the following article number to follow the information in the following the Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

Corrupted content can be identified by performing the following:
1. In the Xbox Dashboard, select System, and then press the A button.
2. Select Memory, and then press the A button.
3. On the Storage Devices screen, select Hard Drive, and then press the A button.
4. On the Hard Drive screen, select Games, and then press the A button.
5. On the Games screen, select the game title that you want, and then press the A button.
6. View the content screen to look for a yellow warning symbol near the content that will indicate that the content is corrupted or may have been partially downloaded.

THINGS TO TRY

1. Delete the downloadable content, and then download the content again.To delete downloadable game content that is corrupted, follow these steps:
a. Sign in to Xbox LIVE by using your Gamertag.
b. In the Xbox Dashboard, select System, and then press the A button.
c. Select Memory, and then press the A button.
d. On the Storage Devices screen, select Hard Drive, and then press the A button.
e. On the Hard Drive screen, select Games, and then press the A button.
f. On the Games screen, select the game title that you want, and then press the A button.
g. On the individual game screen, select the downloadable content that you want to delete, and then press the A button.
h. On the content screen, press the A button to delete the content.

Note Delete is the only option that is available on this screen.
i. On the Delete Item screen, select Yes, and then press the A button to confirm the action.
j. On the individual game screen, press the B button four times to return to the System section.
k. Start the game that you want. Then, sign in to Xbox LIVE to download the game content again.
2. If you delete the downloadable content, and if the issue is not resolved, delete the game.

Note When you delete a game, you lose all saved game data.

To delete a game, follow these steps:
a. Sign in to Xbox LIVE by using your Gamertag.
b. In the Xbox Dashboard, select System, and then press the A button.
c. Select Memory, and then press the A button.
d. On the Storage Devices screen, select Hard Drive, and then press the A button.
e. On the Hard Drive screen, select Games, and then press the A button.
f. On the Games screen, select the appropriate game title, and then press the Y button.
g. On the individual game screen, select Delete, and then press the A button.
h. On the Delete Item screen, select Yes, and then press the A button to confirm the action.

Note When you delete a game, you also delete all the saved contents that are associated with that game.
i. On the Games screen, press the B button three times to return to the System section.
j. Start the game again.
