You have the opportunity to opt in or out of getting more information from Microsoft and its business partners. If you opt in, you'll receive regular communications from Xbox LIVE and others about new games, new content downloads, tournaments, contests, events, sweepstakes, and more. All you need is a valid e-mail address.
You can set information-sharing preferences while you're creating your Xbox LIVE membership.

To opt in or out of information sharing:
- Go to My Xbox and select your profile. If you haven't signed in yet, sign in to see your profile.
- Select Edit Profile, Privacy Settings.
- Select Xbox Marketing, then choose to opt in or opt out.
- Select Partner Marketing, then choose to opt in or opt out.
