This article describes how to use the Xbox System Link Cable to play system-linked multiplayer games.
The Xbox System Link Cable is 20 feet long.

| 1. | Determine whether the game that you want to play supports system link play. View the back of the game box to see if it has the Xbox System Link icon. In system link multiplayer gameplay, both players use their own Xbox console and their own television.
Note Many games support split-screen multiplayer gameplay. In split-screen multiplayer gameplay, multiple controllers connect to one Xbox console and to one TV. |
| 2. | You must have one TV per Xbox console. Xbox has the option to support up to sixteen linked consoles. View the back of the game box or view the game manual to verify how many players can play. |

| 1. | Turn off the power to both Xbox consoles. |
| 2. | Connect the Xbox System Link Cable to the Ethernet port on the back of each Xbox console.
Note If you are not using an Xbox System Link Cable, you must use a standard RJ45 crossover Ethernet cable. |
| 3. | Connect each Xbox console to a separate TV. |
| 4. | Follow the game instructions for multiplayer gameplay to start playing. |

| 1. | You must use straight-through RJ45 Ethernet cables and an Ethernet hub, switch, or router. Contact your local computer retailer or an online computer store for the availability of straight-through Ethernet cables and other networking devices. |
| 2. | Connect each Xbox console to a separate TV. |
| 3. | Connect each Xbox console to the hub by using a straight-through Ethernet cable. |
| 4. | Turn on the hub, turn on the Xbox consoles, and then follow the game instructions for multiplayer gameplay to start playing. |
Note An Xbox System Link Cable is different from a straight-through RJ45 Ethernet cable.
