SUMMARY

If another player involved in an Xbox Live game session is abusive or offensive, you may report that player's actions to Xbox Live.

MORE INFORMATION

Note You can take two actions against offensive or abusive players: You can either mute them during a game session, or you can report their actions to Xbox Live. Not all games permit the host to remove the offending player from a game session.

For more information about how to mute users, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

You can submit a complaint for one or more of the following offenses:
Improper Gamertag
Improper Nickname
Inappropriate Gameplay
Excessive Cursing/Lewdness
Obnoxious Behavior
Cheating
Spamming/Screaming
Threatening Behavior
Verbal Abuse
Xbox Live uses an automated complaint system. This means that you submit complaints online not over the phone. This insures fairness because the online complaint system keeps track of the players who have participated in game sessions with one another and restricts complaints to those members who have participated together in games.

To submit a complaint, follow these steps:
1. Select Players List or Recent Players from the Pause menu, and then press the A button.
2. Select the player for whom you want to report an offense, and then press the A button.
3. Press the A button, and then select Feedback.
4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to report the correctoffense type for that player.
The actions that Xbox Live takes for offenses that you submit vary depending on the severity and the frequency of the complaints. These actions may include a forced name change, a forced nickname change, a voice banning, an account lockout, or an account termination.

Note Actions that Xbox Live takes for complaints are based on the frequency and severity of complaints that are logged against a player. If another player continues to bother you while you are playing online, you can use the mute feature to prevent that player from talking to you, or you can create a private game session and invite only the gamers you want to play with.
