A user pass code is an optional code that you can set on your Xbox Live account to help secure the account from access by unauthorized players.

MORE INFORMATION

A user pass code is an optional code that you can set yourself to help secure a user account from access by unauthorized players on your Original Xbox console. In the Account Management section of Xbox Live, if you have forgotten your password and type it incorrectly, you receive two options: "Try Again" with an OK button and "I Forgot My Pass Code" with a CLEAR button. To reset your user pass code select CLEAR, press the A button, and then type the last four digits of your credit card.

Note To access the Account Management section of Xbox Live, turn on the Xbox console without a disc in the disc tray.

Reminder To reset your pass code, you must have your credit card information.

The user pass code is different from the Parental Control pass code. The Parental Control pass code is a code that you can use to help secure the area of the Xbox Dashboard so that a parent or guardian can set limits for the type of content that players can view, play, or download on to the Xbox hard disk. You can only change this password with the help of a Customer Care Representative; you cannot do this through the Xbox Dashboard.

You only have to remember a pass code if you choose to set a user pass code for your Xbox Live account or accounts, or if you set a Parental Control pass code. Both of these pass codes are optional.
