Choose your connection type
For Mediacom Online,we suggest you use either a direct connection or a router connection.
When using Mediacom Online Internet service, your connection type determines the settings you must specify in the Xbox Dashboard.
If you already have a PC using your Mediacom Online Internet service, and you connect your Xbox console with a direct connection, you must contact Mediacom Online Tech Support to provide Mediacom with your Xbox console’s MAC address. For more information, see "Finding your Xbox console’s MAC address".
If you connect your PC and Xbox console using a router connection, no changes to the Xbox settings are required. If your router has never been used with Mediacom Online before, youmust register your router’s MAC address with Mediacom Online. For more information, see Mediacom Online Help Web site . Although Mediacom Online does not technically support the use of routers they do provide limited assistance with the registration process.
