Game Marketplace

When you select an item for download, your console checks to make sure you have sufficient space for it. If space is low, you can delete items (videos, game trailers, demos, Arcade games) to make room. If you try to download new content without enough available space, the transaction will end and no points will be deducted from your account.

New items are added to your active downloads list. You can queue up to thirty items and play music, DVDs, videos, or games while your stuff downloads in the background. Downloading pauses if you play a game online.

You can let your console finish your downloads even after you've turned it off. The console enters a low-power state and the power light blinks every five seconds during background downloads. When your downloads are completed, it turns off automatically.

You can enable background downloads in System Settings, Console Settings, Shutdown.

Pay with Microsoft Points

  1. Sign in to Xbox LIVE.
  2. Go to Game Marketplace or Video Marketplace and select an item to download.
  3. Select Confirm Download. The Points will be deducted from your account (unless the item is free, in which case no points are deducted).
    • If you don't have enough Points, you'll get a message that tells you how many Points you have and how many you need. To buy more, select Add Microsoft Points and follow the directions on the screen.
    • You can also manage your Points at https://billing.microsoft.com.

Pay with a Prepaid Code

  1. Sign in to Xbox LIVE.
  2. Go to Game Marketplace or Video Marketplace and select an item to download.
  3. Select Redeem Code.

Use your controller, chatpad, or USB keyboard to enter your prepaid code. Then select Done. Your item will download to your hard drive or memory unit.
Note

You can also use a prepaid code to pay for your Xbox LIVE subscription. Go to My Xbox, select your profile, select Manage Account, Memberships, Redeem Code, and follow the directions on the screen.

Find Something You Already Downloaded

When you download content, it's added to your game library or video library.

  • For downloaded games, gamer pictures, demos, and other game content, go to My Xbox, open Game Library, and select the item.
  • For downloaded movies, tv shows, trailers, and other video content, go to My Xbox, open Video Library, and select the item.
  • Netflix items are streamed to your TV while you play them. To see Netflix content, go to Video Marketplace, open Netflix, and select an item. For more info on Netflix, see Stream Movies and TV from Netflix.

See Your Active Downloads

When you download something, it's added to your active download queue. If you are signed in to Xbox LIVE and you aren't using the console to play an online game, , the download begins immediately. If there are several things in your download queue, they're downloaded in order as soon as the console is available.

To change the download order or cancel an active download:

  1. Press the Xbox Guide button.
  2. Go to the Marketplace area.
  3. Select Active Downloads.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To download a pending item right away, select the item, then select Download Now. Downloading pauses temporarily for the original item while the newly selected item is downloaded, then resumes when it's finished.
    • To cancel an active download, select the item, then select Cancel Download. This only removes the item from the list of active downloads.

To remove any partially downloaded content from your console, go to My Xbox, System Settings, Memory. If you want to resume downloading the item later, select it again at Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Manage Your Downloads Using Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web

Just because you're away from your console doesn't mean you can't download more games, movies, and other content for later. Check out http://marketplace.xbox.com for the latest games, movies, add-ons, and more. You can choose new content, purchase it, and put it in your download queue directly from Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the web. The next time you turn your console on, the downloads will start automatically. For more information, see Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web.
