SYMPTOMS

When you try to play a DVD, you may receive the following error message:
DVD Read Error

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Xbox console cannot read the disc correctly. This issue may occur for one of the following reasons:
The disc is dirty.
The disc is damaged and cannot be recognized.

THINGS TO TRY

1. Turn the console off, and then turn the console on. Try to run the disc again.
2. Clean the disc, and then examine the disc for flaws and scratches. Try to run the disc again.

Important Do not use laser lens cleaners or similar products to clean the disc.
3. If you have another console available, try the DVD in the other console.
4. If the disc is a recordable DVD, try to run a different recordable disc type or another disc from a different manufacturer.
