This article discusses how to work with the Xbox 360 Hard Drive to install, play, and delete an Xbox 360 game.

The New Xbox Experience (NXE) fall update will support most of the Xbox 360 games to be played from the Xbox 360 Hard Drive. Follow the appropriate steps to install, play, or remove an Xbox 360 game.

Notes

•	Xbox Original games cannot be played from the Xbox 360 Hard Drive.
•	Installing an Xbox 360 game to the Xbox 360 Hard Drive typically requires from 4 through 8 GB of disc space per game title. The amount of disc space that is used depends on the game title.

Installing an Xbox 360 game to the Xbox 360 Hard Drive

1.	Insert the game disc into the disc drive. Note After you insert the disc, the default option is to auto-launch the game. If this occurs, press the Guide button on the controller to display the menu options. Then, go to step 2.
2.	Navigate to the My Xbox area.
3.	Select the Disc Tray slot.
4.	Press the Y button on the controller to select Game Options.
5.	On the menu, select Install to hard drive, and then press the X button.

Note The process to install an Xbox 360 game to the Xbox 360 Hard Drive may take 10 to 12 minutes.

Playing an Xbox 360 game from the Xbox 360 Hard Drive

1.	Insert game disc into disc drive.
2.	Navigate to the My Xbox area.
3.	Select the Disc Tray slot.
4.	Press the A button on the controller to start the title.

Note NXE is intelligent enough to know that you have the game installed on the Xbox 360 Hard Drive. However, the game disc must be in the drive to play the game.

Deleting an Xbox 360 game from the Xbox 360 Hard Drive

1.	Navigate to the My Xbox area.
2.	Select System Settings, and then press the A button on the controller.
3.	Select Memory, and then press the A button on the controller.
4.	Select Hard Drive, and then press the A button on the controller.
5.	Select Games, and then press the A button on the controller.
6.	Select Xbox 360 Game, and then press the A button on the controller.
7.	Select Delete, and then press the A button on the controller.

Clearing space on a full Xbox 360 Hard Drive

If there is insufficient space on the Xbox 360 Hard Drive to install an Xbox 360 game, you receive the following message: Click YES to view a list of suggested games that you can delete. After you clear sufficient space on the Xbox 360 Hard Drive, you can install the new game.
