Your profile contains all the information about you as a gamer—your messages, the way you play, your avatar, your account information, and more.
To see your profile, go to My Xbox and select the card with your profile name and avatar.
If you have an Xbox LIVE account, you'll see:
- Messages: Read what other gamers have sent to you.
- Edit Profile: Choose or change your gamer picture, motto, bio, and more. You can also set your privacy settings to control who can see your profile information when you play online.
- Customize Avatar: Change your avatar's appearance or take a gamer picture of your avatar.
- Change Theme: Change the background you see behind the dashboard.
- Manage Account: There's lots of important stuff here, like your membership info, download history, Windows Live ID, and pass code.
- Switch Profile: Change the active profile for your console. For more on this, see below.
- If you only play on your console, and don't have an Xbox LIVE account, you'll see Join Xbox LIVE at the top of the list. You'll also see Edit Profile, Customize Avatar, Change Theme, and Switch Profile, just as they're described above. You won't see Messages or Manage Account unless you sign up for Xbox LIVE.
Switch to a Different Profile
If you share your console with someone else, you'll probably want to switch from one profile to the other. Although you could turn your console off and on again, there's a faster way.
To switch profiles:
- Go to My Xbox and open the profile that's currently signed in.
- Select Switch Profile, then select the profile you want to use.
Delete a Profile
When you delete a profile, you delete any saved games and achievements associated with that profile.
To delete a profile:
- Go to My Xbox, open System Settings, and select Memory.
- Select Hard Drive, Gamer Profiles.
- Select the profile you want to delete, then select Delete and follow the directions on the screen.
If you have an Xbox LIVE account, you can recover a gamer profile that you've deleted, but you will recover only the achievements and gamerscore you received while you were connected to Xbox LIVE. (That is, if you play a game offline, then recover your Gamertag from Xbox LIVE without first signing in normally to sync your achievements, you will lose the offline achievements and gamerscore.) To learn how to recover a gamer profile, see Recover Your Gamertag from Xbox LIVE.
