    Troubleshoot Gears of War 4 on Windows 10

    Your graphics card is below the minimum spec

    You get the following error code when you try to launch Gears of War 4 on a Windows 10 device:

    GW400

    This means that the graphics card in your Windows 10 device does not meet the minimum requirements. Your graphics card must support DirectX 12 (Feature Level 11).

    Solution

    Upgrade your system's graphics card to meet the minimum requirements for the game, and then try launching the game again.

    Your graphics card is incompatible with the game

    You get the following error code when you try to play Gears of War 4 on a Windows 10 device:

    GW401

    This means that the installed graphics card driver in your Windows 10 device has known compatibility problems.

    Solution

    Visit the website for your graphics card manufacturer and update to the latest driver.

    Your video card has stopped responding

    You get the following error code when you try to play Gears of War 4 on a Windows 10 device:

    GW402

    This means that the video card in your Windows 10 device has stopped responding.

    Solution

    Visit your graphics card manufacturer's website and update your graphics card with the latest drivers.

    Your graphics card doesn’t have enough VRAM

    You get the following error code when you try to play Gears of War 4 on a Windows 10 device:

    GW410

    This means that your graphics card doesn't meet the game’s minimum requirements.

    Solution

    To resolve this issue, we recommend that your graphics card has at least 2 GB of VRAM.

    Your system doesn’t have enough RAM

    You get the following error code when you try to launch Gears of War 4 on a Windows 10 device:

    GW411

    This means that your system has an insufficient amount of total system memory available.

    Solution

    To resolve this issue, we recommend that your system has at least 8 GB of memory available.

    Your system is low on RAM

    You get one of the following error codes when you try to launch Gears of War 4 on a Windows 10 device:

    GW412

    This means that your system has a low amount of memory available.

    GW413

    This means that your system is out of memory.

    Solutions

    To resolve this issue, we recommend that your system has at least 8 GB of memory free. Try closing some other running programs to free up more memory.

    Make sure your video card and computer have the minimum required memory. Lowering the resolution or closing other running applications may help.
