Error 0x80a4001a occurs when you’re prompted for your password

You see the following error code when you’re prompted for your Microsoft account password:

0x80a4001a

Solution

To work around this problem, do the following:

  1. Delete your account from your console. To do so, go to System > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.
  2. Choose the account you want to remove and select Remove.
  3. Once your account is removed, go back and select Sign-in, and then add your account again and enter your password.
  4. Select either No barriers or Ask for my passkey.

Note If you select Lock it down, you're likely to encounter the issue again.
