Error code C0051200 occurs when you use Kinect

    Problem

You see the following error code and message when you're using your Kinect sensor.

The Kinect Sensor is too hot
    Error code C0051200

This might mean that you need to turn off your Xbox 360 console and allow the Kinect Sensor to cool. Then try the following solutions.

    Solutions

Solution 1: Unplug and reconnect the Kinect Sensor

After the sensor is cool to the touch, unplug and then reconnect the sensor. Then, turn on the console and see if the problem still occurs. If you keep getting the error, try the next solution.

Solution 2: Position the Kinect sensor so that it cools adequately

    • Make sure that the Kinect Sensor has enough space around it for adequate cooling.
    • Make sure that nothing is covering the Kinect sensor.
    • Move the Kinect Sensor away from direct sunlight.

For more information about placement of your sensor, see Kinect Setup and More about Kinect Sensor placement.

    Solution 3: Request a repair

If the first two solutions don’t solve the problem, sign in to the Xbox Online Service Centre and click Start request to request a repair.
