    Error code and message

Error code c00cee04 contains the following message:

Sorry, there's a problem with the Xbox service. Try again later.

    Status code: c00cee04

    Problem

If you get this message and error code, it may mean that Xbox Live is undergoing system maintenance or that system files on your console are temporarily corrupted.

    Solutions

To resolve this problem, try the following solutions:

    Solution 1: Try again later

Wait a few minutes and try again. Xbox Live might be unavailable due to system maintenance. To check the status of Xbox Live, go to Service Status and look in the “Service Status” section for a notice that Xbox Live is down.

If you still experience the problem, try the next solution.

Solution 2: Clear the system cache on your Xbox 360 console

Clearing the system cache on your console will remove temporary files and data, such as game updates, system update installation packages, and gamer pictures of your friends.

Note Clearing your system cache does not remove the following:

    • Your gamertag
    • Content that you have downloaded
    • Game files
    • Console software updates

    To clear your system cache:

    1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
    2. Select Storage or Memory.
    1. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. (It doesn't matter which storage device you select; the cache will be cleared for all storage devices.)
    2. Select Clear System Cache.
    1. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.

If you still experience the problem, try the next solution.

Solution 3: Clear your Xbox Live cache on your Xbox 360 console

The Xbox 360 console also stores temporary files for Xbox Live. Here’s how to clear those temporary files from your console:

    1. On your console, go to Settings and select System.
    2. Select Storage and then select your primary storage device.
    3. Select System Items.
    4. Select Marketplace System Data.
    5. Select Delete.
    6. Restart your console.
    7. Sign in to Xbox Live.
If you still experience the problem after trying the solutions on this page, contact Xbox Support.
