Updating your Xbox One console
We're constantly improving Xbox One. If your console is set up to get automatic updates, we'll update your console when one is available. If not, you'll be prompted to update.
To set your console to automatically receive updates:
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide and choose Settings > All settings.
- Select System > Updates.
- Select Keep my console up to date for console and Keep my games & apps up to date for games & apps.
If you want to get the update manually:
- Make sure your console is connected to the Internet, and then open the guide and choose Settings > All settings.
- Select System > Updates > Update console.
If no update is available, your console is up to date.
To see your console's system version, open the guide and choose Settings > All settings, and then select System > Updates.
To see when it was last updated, choose Latest console update status.
If you're in the preview program, your console may update more frequently as we prepare a new update for public release. We may also do preview updates in waves—some preview participants may receive updates at different times than others.
If you're interested in helping us through the preview program, see Xbox One Preview program FAQ.
