Workaround: The game will need to be updated with the latest patch. To update the game, follow these steps:
Once the update is complete, you should be able to launch Fortnite with no issue.
Note If your console doesn’t see the update, restart the console by pressing and holding the Xbox button on your Xbox One controller to open the Power Center. Select Restart console > Restart. After your console restarts, Fortnite should update automatically the next time you launch it.

Players looking to refund in-game items should visit the Self-Service Cosmetic Return portal within the game.
There is a three-time lifetime refund limit for cosmetic items in-game. Cosmetic in-game refunds are only valid within 30 days of purchase.
Any refund requests for items purchased from the Microsoft Store should be directed to the Refund Request form.
Fortnite on Xbox One supports cross-network play, which means you can team up with and play against players on other networks such as Nintendo, PlayStation, or PC. Fortnite on Xbox One supports the ability to play with a mouse and keyboard. Note that when using a mouse and keyboard on Xbox One, you’ll be placed in a game with other users who also chose mouse and keyboard as their control option. Note If you’re on a child account, you’ll also need to enable settings for cross-network play to use a keyboard and mouse while playing on Xbox One.
