"Your gamertag was last signed in on another Xbox console" message

If the last time your profile was signed in was on a different console than the console you're signing in on now, you might see the following message when you sign in:

Gamertag was last signed in on another console.

What do I need to do if I see this message?

This message means that the last time you signed in to your profile you used a different Xbox console. If this is true, go ahead and have fun. The message is just a notification. You can manage your sign-in preferences to control access to your profile on other console. See the following additional information for your console type:

If you played at a friend's house and don't remember if you left your profile on their console or whether you saved your password on that console, you may want to change your password to prevent anyone from using your account.

  1. Sign in to your Microsoft account.
  2. Under your profile picture, select Change password. Because of the sensitivity of your security information, you may be prompted to re-enter your password or to enter a code that we send to an email address or phone number saved as security information in your account so that we know the request is coming from you.
  3. Create and confirm your new password.

If you're using an Xbox 360, you can also remove your profile from all consoles:

  1. Sign in at Xbox.com. You may be asked to enter your password or a security code we send to your phone or alternate email address.
  2. Select Xbox settings.
  3. Select See Xbox 360 profile protection.
  4. Select Require Profile Download.

What should I do if I didn't download my profile to another console?

If you get this message and you haven't signed in to your Xbox Live profile on another Xbox console recently, someone else may be using your account. If at any time you believe your account has been hacked, the first thing you should do is change your password:

  1. Sign in at Microsoft account.
  2. Under your profile picture, select Change password. Because of the sensitivity of your security information, you'll be prompted to enter a code that we send to an email address or phone number saved as security information in your account so that we know the request is coming from you.
  3. Create and confirm your new password.
