What is Xbox Game Pass?

For a low monthly price, enjoy unlimited access to over a hundred great Xbox games—including some games made for Xbox 360 and original Xbox. Game Pass subscriptions are available for use on Xbox One and PC. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate works on both console and PC, and also comes with Xbox Live Gold membership.

An active Game Pass subscription is required to play games. Some games may be available only to account holders 18 years and older. Games and the number of games offered may vary over time and by country/region, and may not be available in all locales.

How do I cancel Game Pass?

Where do I find games?

See the latest in the Game Pass app, Xbox Game Pass website, or on the Xbox One Game Pass hub.

How do I install games?

On Xbox and PC, install from the details page for a given game. On mobile, use the Game Pass mobile app to queue games for installation on your home Xbox. For more info, see How to designate your home Xbox.

How do I manage games?

Manage your Xbox Game Pass downloaded games library through My games & apps on Xbox One and in the Installed area of the Xbox (Beta) app on PC. You can also visit Xbox Game Pass on console, Xbox Game Pass online, or Xbox (Beta) app to select and download new titles.

How can I tell which of my games come from Game Pass?

In your My games & apps, select Game Pass. Tabs at the top of the list show, first, games installed on your Xbox. Highlight the other tab to see the rest of the games available to install using Game Pass.

Can I play multiplayer games with Game Pass?

Depending on the game, yes—though for multiplayer you need either Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or a subscription to Xbox Live Gold (sold separately).

Can I still play games after they leave Game Pass?

Games you install using Xbox Game Pass remain playable once they’ve left the Game Pass catalog only when you buy them—and you get a hefty discount when you buy games as an Xbox Game Pass subscriber.

When you buy games at a discount, those games are yours to keep. Similarly, any add-ons you buy are yours to keep, whether you buy the base game or not.

Either way, whenever you sign in to Xbox Live, your game data gets saved online. That means, whenever you next play the game—if you buy it, if you play it at someone else’s house, or if it comes back to Game Pass—you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off.

How do Game Pass discounts on game purchases work?

Xbox Game Pass members can save up to 20% on Xbox One games purchased from the existing catalog, as well as up to 10% off related game add-ons and consumables.

Discounts are based on the Microsoft Store price and on the game’s global launch date. Between 31 and 90 days from a game’s launch date, members receive up to 10% discount off the Microsoft Store price. After 90 days from a game’s launch date, members receive up to a 20% discount. For game add-ons and consumables, Xbox Game Pass members receive up to a 10% discount from the day the add-on is released.

Game Pass discounts are not combinable with other offers and are not redeemable for cash; discount offers exclude titles within 30 days of launch; discounts are based on Microsoft Store price. Requirements, features, online services, or subscriptions are subject to change and/or retirement. Discounts are subject to the Microsoft Services Agreement.

Do I buy DLC separately?

Xbox Game Pass members can purchase DLC and consumables for Xbox One games at up to 10% off the Microsoft Store price while the game is in the Xbox Game Pass catalog. Game Pass discounts can’t be combined with other offers and are not redeemable for cash; discount offers exclude games within 30 days of their launch; discounts are based on the Microsoft Store price.

Will game add-ons I’ve installed get deleted when they leave Game Pass?

Your space is your space. Games and DLC will not be deleted from your hard drive until you want them gone, even if they’ve rolled out of the Xbox Game Pass catalog.

If you buy DLC for a game and that game leaves the Xbox Game Pass catalog, your rights to the DLC will be unaffected. To keep playing the DLC, you need to buy the game itself from the Microsoft Store or on disc. As long as you were signed in to Xbox Live the last time you played, your achievements, game saves, and game progress will all be there. Resume playing right where you left off.

Games in the Game Pass collection can be purchased at a reduced cost, so if this is a game you will want to play keep playing you will want to purchase before it leaves the collection. Stay on top of what is in the Leaving soon section in the Game Pass mobile app or on the Xbox One console by scrolling from Home to the Game Pass tab and scrolling down to the Leaving soon section. If you see a title you are playing in that section, you may want to buy this title at the reduced price before it leaves the collection.
