Game crashes due to antivirus scanning on Windows 10
If you experience frequent game crashes or instability while playing State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves, or Crackdown 3 on Windows 10, this may mean that your antivirus software is scanning the game.
You can set file exclusions to prevent this from happening. The steps below apply to Trend Micro but can be adapted depending on the antivirus program you have installed on your device.
Launch the Microsoft Store.
Make sure that you’re signed in with the correct profile. This will be displayed at the top-right of the Store.
Select … and then select Downloads and Updates from the dropdown menu.
Locate the game in this list and make a note of the version number (you’ll need to use this in Step 9).
Open the Trend Micro main console by right-clicking on the Trend Micro icon in your taskbar, and then select Open the Main Console.
Open the settings menu.
Select Exception Lists, and then Program/folders.
Select the + button, and then Browse.
Paste this into the File name box, replacing [VERSION] with the version number found in Step 4:
State of Decay 2 - C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Dayton_[VERSION]_x64 __8wekyb3d8bbwe\
Sea of Thieves - C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.wasserburg_[VERSION]_x64 __ 8wekyb3d8bbwe\
