You may see the following error code and message when you’re using Kinect for Xbox 360:
Head not detected
809B1009
This means that the Kinect sensor is having trouble seeing you during a Kinect Tuner test. The problem might be either that the sensor is not positioned correctly or the lighting in the room isn’t adequate for the sensor to see you.
Solution 1: Select “More info” and then “Try again”
On your console, select More Info to see suggestions on how to correct the problem. After you make the suggested changes, select Try Again to run the test again.
If you keep getting the error, try the next solution.
Solution 2: Position the Kinect sensor correctly

If you keep getting the error after following the directions on the Kinect setup page, try the next solution.
Solution 3: Make sure you have good lighting
Learn about optimal lighting for Kinect, and try the suggestions on the Room lighting conditions for Kinect page.
If you keep getting the error, try the next solution.
Solution 4: Contact Xbox support
If you keep experiencing this error, contact Xbox Support by clicking the Contact Us link at the bottom of this page.
Solution 5: Request a repair
If the previous solutions don’t work, sign in to request a repair, and click Start request.
