Try different audio formats for party chat

Windows audio devices support a wide range of audio formats. Sometimes, incompatibilities with drivers or the audio software in Windows affect audio playback or recording. To try different audio formats:

  1. Do either of the following:
    • Select the Start button, type control panel, select Control Panel, then select Sound.
    • On the taskbar, right-click on the sound icon (next to the date and time), then select Playback devices.
  2. Right-click the default device (it’ll be check-marked), select Properties, then select the Advanced tab.
  3. In Default Format, select the box to change the audio format. Once you’ve changed the format, check the playback by selecting Test.
  4. When you’re done, select OK.
