Minecraft Realms is a subscription-based service that lets you play Minecraft online with up to 10 players. You can subscribe to Minecraft Realms with any device that runs any of the following editions of Minecraft:
Note Minecraft: Pocket Edition for Windows Phone, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition do not currently support Realms.
If you play Minecraft on a PC (using the Java version), there is already a Minecraft Realms subscription service available. To learn more or to manage your subscription, visit the Minecraft Realms page on the Mojang website.
With Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition and Minecraft: Gear VR Edition, you can choose from either a one-month or six-month subscription purchase of Realms. This is a one-off payment and is non-refundable, and will not renew automatically once it expires.
For the other Pocket Edition versions of Minecraft, you can choose from two recurring monthly subscriptions:
Subscription costs vary depending on the region where you live.
You will need to have an Xbox gamertag to earn achievements and increase your gamer score. The first time you launch the Windows 10 or Pocket Edition of Minecraft, you'll be asked to sign in to Xbox Live through the Xbox app or the Xbox SmartGlass app. If you already have an account, use that to sign in. If you don’t, you can easily create one using your existing email address. There is no charge to create an account.
See How to sign in to the Xbox app on Windows 10 for more information about using the Xbox app to sign in to Minecraft.
Note You don't need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play Minecraft Realms.
In both cases, this will be billed for the device that you purchased Minecraft on.
The next time you play Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition or Minecraft: Pocket Edition, you can select Realms from the main menu.
If you don't want to subscribe to Minecraft Realms anymore, cancel your subscription:
For Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition (including Oculus Rift) and Minecraft: Gear VR Edition, there is no monthly subscription. Once you complete your purchase, your subscription to Realms will expire after one or six months, depending on which version you purchased.
