The Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adaptor is compatible with both the original Xbox 360 console and the Xbox 360 S console. If you connect the adaptor to an Xbox 360 S console, it will disable the internal wireless N feature of the console. (Using the external adaptor may improve signal strength and bandwidth if your wireless access point is far from your console.)
How to connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adaptor
To connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adaptor to your Xbox console, follow these steps:
Attach the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adaptor to the back of your Xbox 360 console by inserting the plastic tabs on the adaptor into the slots on the back of your console.
Note The Xbox 360 S console doesn’t have these slots because the console has internal wireless capability. However, in some cases, the Wireless N Networking Adaptor will offer better range and bandwidth compared with the internal wireless feature of the Xbox 360 S console. If you are using the Wireless N Networking Adaptor with the Xbox 360 S console, extend the feet of the adaptor to allow the adaptor to sit on the console or off to the side.
Plug the USB cable into the USB port on the back of your console.
Note If you are using a wireless adaptor and a Kinect sensor, use the wireless adaptor extension cable included with the Kinect sensor to plug the wireless adaptor into a USB port on the front of the console.
Flip up the antennae.
If a network cable is plugged into the back of the console, unplug it.
