You see one of the following error messages when you try to stream a movie from the Netflix app or play a DVD:
Secure HDCP link not found
Secure HDCP link lost
This issue can occur if you connect your Xbox 360 console to your display device with an HDMI cable. You may see one of these errors if your console can’t establish a secure connection to your display by using the High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) protocol.
This can occur for the following reasons:
To resolve this issue, try these solutions.
Solution 1: Bypass other devices
Some home cinema tuners or AV switch boxes have an "HDMI pass-through" connection. This connection lets you connect an HDMI cable from your Xbox 360 console to the device and then connect another HDMI cable to your display. Your Xbox 360 may not perform a proper HDCP “handshake” at the start of video playback when you use one of these devices.
To test if your tuner or switch box is causing the problem, connect an HDMI cable directly from your Xbox 360 console to your display:
If this resolves the issue, contact the manufacturer of your home cinema tuner or AV switch box to resolve the conflict.
Solution 2: Check if your display supports HDCP
Some displays have an HDMI connection but don’t fully support the HDCP protocol. Check the manual or manufacturer’s website for your display to see if it’s fully HDCP-compliant.
If your display doesn't support HDCP, you can use an Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable to connect your console to your display device.
Solution 3: Replace your HDMI cable
If your display supports HDCP, try a different HDMI cable. Make sure that you use a direct connection between your Xbox 360 console and the display
If this still doesn’t resolve the issue, test again with a different display.
Note You can also use an Xbox 360 Component HD AV cable to work around the issue.
