Error 80151904 occurs when using Xbox Live on Xbox 360
You see one of the following error messages when you try to use Xbox Live on your Xbox 360 console:
Can't connect to Xbox Live.
Status Code 80151904
Sorry, Xbox Live profiles can't be downloaded right now. Please try again later.
Status Code 80151904
This may mean one of the following:
- There's a temporary problem with the Xbox Live service.
- There's a problem with your connection to Xbox Live.
- The Xbox Live profile stored on your console is corrupted.
Solutions
To resolve this problem, try the following solutions.
Solution 1: Check the Xbox Live service status
If you see any alerts here, wait until the service is up and running and try again:
Solution 2: Troubleshoot your connection to Xbox Live
Run the Xbox Live Connection Test. Here's how:
- Press the Guide button on your controller.
- Select Settings, System Settings and then Network Settings.
- Select the name of your Wireless Network, or select Wired Network for a wired connection.
- Select Test Xbox Live Connection.
If you continue to have problem, try the Xbox 360 Connection Solution.
Solution 3: Move and re-download your profile
- Move your Xbox Live profile:
- Format a spare USB flash drive as a memory unit.
- Plug the flash drive into your console.
- From the Dashboard, go to settings and then select Storage.
- Select All Devices.
- Select Gamer Profiles, and then select your gamer profile.
- Select Move.
- Select the memory unit that you want to move your profile to.
- Remove the USB flash drive from your console.
- Clear the system cache:
- Press the Guide button on your controller.
- Go to Settings and select System Settings.
- Select Storage.
- Highlight any storage device, and then press the Y button on your controller. (It doesn't matter which storage device you select; the cache will be cleared for all storage devices.)
- Select Clear System Cache.
- When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.
- Redownload your profile:
- Press the Guide button on the controller. Select Download Profile.
Note Not seeing Download Profile? This means that you're signed in under another profile. Press the X button to sign out, confirm and then select Download Profile.
- Press the Guide button on the controller. Select Download Profile.

- At the bottom of the Download Profile screen, select Download Profile.

- Enter the email address of the Microsoft account that's associated with your Xbox Live profile. If you don't know it, see the Lost Account Solution or the Lost Password Solution.

- Enter your Microsoft account password. If you forgot it, you’ll need to reset your password.

Note If your account is an Xbox Live child account, the parent's Microsoft account information is required to download the profile. To recover lost Microsoft account credentials, use the Lost Account Solution or the Lost Password Solution.
- If you use external storage on your console, select the storage device on which you want to save the profile. If you don't use external storage, your profile will begin downloading.
Solution 4: Remove and reattach your Xbox 360 Hard Drive
The issue might be resolved by reseating a loose hard drive. Follow the instructions specific to your console type at Add or Remove an Xbox 360 Hard Drive.
Solution 5: Reinstall the latest Xbox 360 system update
To reinstall the latest Xbox 360 update, follow these steps:
- Clear the system cache. For help, see step 2 in Solution 3, above.
- Roll back and then reinstall system updates. To do this:
- Press the Guide button on your controller.
- Go to settings and select System.
- Select Storage.
- Enter the following button sequence: LB , RB , X , LB , RB , X .
- Select the option to roll back all system updates that are installed. The console will restart automatically and then download the updates again.
- Reset your network hardware. Here's how:
- Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem or gateway. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.
- Turn off your Xbox One console by pressing and holding the power button on the front of the console for five seconds.
- Wait five minutes.
- If you're using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.
- Plug in the rest of your hardware and try to connect to Xbox Live.
Solution 6: Network troubleshooting
Run the Xbox 360 Connection Error Solution.
