    Troubleshoot the Sky News app issues

    Overview

    This article describes how to resolve problems with the Sky News app on Xbox 360.

    Xbox Live connection problems

    If the Sky News app isn’t functioning smoothly on your console, you may have a connectivity problem. See Troubleshoot your Xbox Live connection.

    Xbox 360 audio/video problems

    If your Xbox 360 console isn’t providing good-quality video or audio, see Xbox 360 audio or video problems.

    The Sky News app doesn't respond

    If the Sky News app doesn’t respond, delete and reinstall it. Here’s how:

    1. From the Xbox Dashboard, go to settings and then System.
    2. Select Storage.
    3. Select your primary storage device.
    4. Select Games and Apps.
    5. Find and select any items that refer to "Sky News."
    6. Select Delete.
    7. From the Xbox Dashboard, go to apps and then Browse apps.
    8. Select the xyz app.
    9. Select Confirm Download to download and install the app.

    If the problem isn’t resolved, contact Xbox Support.

    Error messages

    You may get one of the following error messages when you try to use the Sky News app.

    Connectivity errors

    • Sorry, the Sky News server isn’t available right now. Please select the retry button below or try again later. For more information, go to www.xbox.com/status.
    • The Application has encountered an unexpected error and will now exit.
    • The Sky News Server unavailable.
    • A server or network error has occurred. Please try again later.
    • An unknown error has occurred.
    • An internal error has occurred
    • To resolve the error, follow these steps:

      1. Go to www.xbox.com/status to ensure there is not an issue with the service provider.
      2. If there is no issue and you receive this error message when you try to launch the Sky News app or content within the app, wait for approximately one minute. Then try to launch the app again.
      3. If you continue to receive this error, delete the Sky News app and reinstall.
      4. If this does not resolve your problem, contact Xbox Support.
      5. For more information about how to contact Xbox Customer Support directly, go to http://support.xbox.com/contact-us.

      Note the Sky News is responsible for all issues relating to content within the Sky News app. You can contact the Sky News at apps@bskyb.com.

    Application errors

    • The video cannot be played at this time.
    • A missing data error has occurred
    • Sorry, the video you were interested in is no longer available.
    • To resolve the error, follow these steps:

      1. Wait for approximately one minute and then try to launch the content again.
      2. If you continue to receive this error, return to the prior menu and select different piece of content to watch.
      3. To notify the Sky News of the content error, contact the Sky News at apps@bskyb.com.
