Error 80153003 occurs when downloading or purchasing content on Xbox 360

You see the following error code and message when you try to download or purchase content from Xbox Live:

Can't retrieve information from Xbox Live.

    Status Code: 80153003

This may mean that the download or purchase failed, or that the content is no longer available from the Store. If you can no longer find the content when searching Xbox.com, it may have been removed. However, if the content is still available, try the solutions below.

    Solutions

Solution 1: Delete old data and clear your cache

First, try to update your Xbox Live information by clearing your cache. You may have an older version of the item that you're trying to download or purchase on your console. Here's how:

    1. Delete the Marketplace System Data. To do this, follow these steps:
      1. Press the Guide button on the controller.
      2. Go to Settings and then select System Settings.
      3. Select Storage and then select your primary storage device.
      4. Select System Items.
      5. Select Content Cache and then select Delete.
    2. Clear your console cache. Here's how:
      1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
      2. Go to Settings and then select System Settings.
      3. Select Storage or Memory.
      4. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. (It doesn't matter which storage device you select. The cache will be cleared for all storage devices.)
      5. Select Clear System Cache.
      6. When you're prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.
    3. Restart your Xbox 360 console.
    4. Retry your purchase or download from Xbox Live.

If you continue to receive this error message, there may be a problem with the offer on Xbox Live. Contact Xbox Support.

Solution 2: Delete the content and download it again

Delete any active downloads from the active downloads screen, delete any partially downloaded content and then try to download the content again. Here's how:

    1. Press the Guide button on the controller.
    1. Go to Games & Apps.
    2. Select Active Downloads, and then select Cancel All.

Now that the active downloads have been cancelled, delete any partially downloaded content. Here's how:

    1. Press the Guide button on the controller, and then go to Settings.
    2. Select System Settings.
    3. Select Storage, and then select your storage device.
    4. Press X on your controller for Deletion Suggestions.
    5. Scroll through the suggestions and delete any content that has a yellow exclamation mark. The exclamation point indicates content that is incomplete or corrupted.

Now that the partially downloaded content has been deleted, try downloading the content again. Here's how:

    1. Go to the Settings hub and select Account.
    2. Select Download History.
    3. Select the item that you were having problems downloading.
    4. Select Download Again.

If the content still doesn't download completely, try the next solution.

Solution 3: Make sure that you're connected to Xbox Live

Test your connection to Xbox Live to make sure that a faulty connection is not the problem. Here's how:

    1. Press the Guide button on your controller (Xbox button in the centre of your controller).
    2. Go to Settings and then select System Settings.
    3. Select Network Settings.
    4. Select your wireless network or Wired Network if you're prompted to do so.
    5. Select Test Xbox Live Connection.
    6. Select Yes if you're prompted to update your console software.

When you're successfully connected to Xbox Live, your screen will look like this:

If you're connected to Xbox Live and still can't download the content, try the next solution.

Solution 4: Check your billing information

Even if you didn't make a purchase, sign in to your Microsoft account and check that all billing information is current. Incorrect information may still prevent a download.

    Solution 5: Request a repair

If the previous solutions didn't resolve the problem, your Kinect sensor needs to be repaired. See Getting your Xbox console or Kinect sensor serviced.
