Can I transfer my Minecraft: Wii U Edition world/save?

Yes, visit Transfer Minecraft worlds from Wii U to Switch for more info on how to do this.

Why am I seeing square box characters ("□") in my Mii nickname in the game?

During local play, your Mii nickname appears over your player character. But if a non-supported character, such as a Japanese hiragana symbol, is used in the nickname, the name shows "□" (square box characters) in place of any unsupported characters.

Why is my eManual not in the same language that I've selected for the game?

This is a known behavior and eManuals will open in the language you have selected for your Wii U system language. However, you can find a comprehensive guide to how to play the game inside the game itself. From the main menu or from the Pause menu, select Help & Options, and then select How To Play, and you'll find a wealth of information, all without leaving the game.

Why can't I see one of my Favorite Mii characters in the game?

When playing in local multiplayer, players can use their Mii instead of having to enter names or preferences. However, to have your favorite Mii characters show up in the game, those favorite Mii characters cannot be linked to any existing users or Nintendo Network IDs. Therefore, if your favorite Mii characters are linked to any existing users or Nintendo Network IDs, those Mii characters will not show up in the game.

Why did my friends who were playing with me online get disconnected from my Minecraft game when I went to buy downloadable content (DLC) in the eShop?

This is a known behavior that we are aware of. To avoid this, we advise you to buy any new DLC before you start playing with your friends online in the game.

What version of Minecraft is Minecraft: Wii U Edition?

At release, this edition will be the close equivalent of 1.6.4 in other editions of Minecraft. As with all new releases of Minecraft, from a development standpoint, we need to start from a known version of the game and then update from there. We will keep updating the game as long as you keep playing.

How can I start a multiplayer game in split screen?

Multiplayer is available only when the Wii U console is using High Definition mode, which requires a HDMI cable or Wii Component video cable connection between the Wii U console and the TV. Only a Wii U GamePad and Wii U Pro Controller or Wii U Classic Controller can be used when playing multiplayer.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Start Minecraft and at the main menu, select Play Game and press the A button.
  2. Select Load or Create to play.
  3. During gameplay and while the game is playing on the TV, player two will press the + button on the Wii U Pro Controller (or Wii Classic Controller) to activate multiplayer mode.

Note To activate multiplayer mode, the game must not be playing on the GamePad exclusively (Off-TV Mode). If playing Off-TV Mode, click the TV Mode icon on the bottom right of the GamePad screen. If done correctly, the GamePad should be displaying a Minecraft block.

  4. Player two will select a character and press the A button.
  5. The game screen will switch to split screen and multiplayer mode will begin

How can I start a multiplayer game online?

Minecraft is a multiplayer game by default. If you create your world as an Online game (this is an option when creating worlds) your world will be visible to people in your friends list in the Join tab when they select Play Game.

When friends join the game, it will also be visible to people in their Friends List if you have selected the Allow Friends of Friends option in the game settings.
