You see the following error code and message when you’re downloading an Xbox 360 console software update:
Can't download the update. To test your connection, open System Settings and select Network Settings, Test Xbox Live Connection.
Status code: 335A-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx
Note The “x” digits vary.
This may mean that there is a network issue, insufficient space on your storage device, a problem with the storage device, or an issue with the system cache.
Solution 1: Try installing the update again
If this does not fix the problem, try the next solution.
Solution 2: Make sure you have enough storage space
The latest console software update requires at least 190 megabytes (MB) of storage space (or 256 MB if you live in Japan). If you don’t have enough free space, you need to move or delete some items. See Copy, move, or delete Xbox 360 content.
If this does not fix the problem, try the next solution.
Solution 3: Clear the system cache
Removing the temporary files on your console might solve the problem. See Clear your Xbox 360 system cache.
After clearing the cache, try the update again. If this does not fix the problem, try the next solution.
Solution 4: Reinsert the storage device
After replacing the storage device, try the update again. If this does not fix the problem, try the next solution.
Solution 5: Copy the update to a USB flash drive or to a disc and install it from there
Copy the console update from your computer to a USB flash drive or disc, and then install the update on your console.
To copy to a USB flash drive, follow these steps:
Note The USB flash drive must use the FAT32 file system.
You can also download the update on your computer, burn the update to a CD or DVD, and then install the update on your console. Here's how:
